Questions & answers
Everything you need to know about SoloStage on Android tablets and iPad: offline use, backing tracks, sound quality, page turns, pedals, and migrating from MobileSheets.
Getting started
Can I use SoloStage without backing tracks?
Yes. It is a full sheet music reader on its own: PDFs, image files, camera scanning, pedal turns, stylus mark-up, setlists and smart collections. Add backing tracks whenever you want.
Is SoloStage a forScore alternative?
Yes. While forScore runs only on Apple devices, SoloStage runs on both Android tablets and iPad. SoloStage covers everyday reader needs (PDFs, annotations, setlists, pedal turns) plus audio-synced page turns, timed cues, and planned handovers between songs. How they compare.
Which tablets does it run on?
Android tablets and iPad. An iPad with an Apple Pencil or a Samsung Galaxy Tab with an S Pen is an ideal match.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Your sheet music, audio tracks and setlists stay locally on your tablet. No internet, no account and no subscriptions required.
What files can I use?
Scores as PDF or images, including paper music photographed with the built-in camera scanner. Audio tracks as MP3, WAV or MP4.
Can I move my library over from MobileSheets?
Yes. Import your .msb backup and choose what comes across: pieces, scores, audio, setlists, collections, crops and annotations. A clear report confirms everything transferred.

Audio-synced turns & cues
Do I have to set up page turns for every piece?
No. Without them, you turn pages with a foot pedal or screen tap like any reader. Set up audio turns only for pieces you perform to a track.
What if I turn the page myself during automatic turns?
Your manual turn takes priority immediately. Auto-turn then pauses until the next turn, for the rest of the piece, or not at all: your choice in Settings.
Does it watch my face or listen through a microphone?
No. Turns are taught once against the backing track and replayed exactly. Nothing watches you or listens to the room, so smiling at the audience or echoing acoustics never trigger a false turn.
Which page turner pedals work with it?
Any Bluetooth pedal that operates in keyboard mode, covering models from AirTurn, PageFlip and others. You can test your switches directly in Settings.
Backing tracks & sound quality
Can I change the key or speed of a backing track without it sounding warbly?
Yes. Many apps use basic speech-stretching tools that make transposed music sound warbly, metallic, or muffled through a venue PA. SoloStage uses studio-quality audio processing for pitch shifts (up to 12 semitones up or down, or by selecting a target key) and speed changes (50% to 150%). Instruments stay natural and beats stay punchy, clean enough for live performance through full-range venue sound systems. SoloStage can also detect the key and tempo of your track automatically.
Can I cut a long intro or an awkward ending?
Yes. Drag the start and end edges on the waveform, and drag a corner inward to fade in or out smoothly.
What happens between songs in a setlist?
You choose per song: wait for the pedal, pause with a clean gap, or crossfade seamlessly.
Can I take a request mid-set?
Yes. Search your library from the stage drawer and tap Play next or crossfade to it immediately. Your saved setlist remains untouched.
Can I send the setlist to a client or wedding coordinator?
Yes. Share a clean copy as PDF, text or spreadsheet with your name, contact and logo. Your private performance notes, keys, speeds and fades are never included.
Reading & S Pen stylus
Can I write on my sheet music with an Apple Pencil or S Pen?
Yes. SoloStage supports the Apple Pencil on iPad and the S Pen on Android tablets: pen, highlighter, shapes, text and white-out, with palm rejection and undo. Marks live on their own layer and never modify the original PDF.
Will my music look small on a widescreen 16:10 Android tablet?
No. SoloStage includes margin cropping, side-by-side two-page view, and fit to width. Automatic turns work in every view.
Android, iPad & forScore
Is forScore available on Android?
No. forScore's own site says it's sold only through Apple's App Store, for iPad, iPhone, Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
Does SoloStage have something like forScore's Replay?
Yes. In Turns & marks you play the track once and turn pages as you normally would; from then on the pages turn at those moments. Marks can be timed to the track too, and every turn can be moved or deleted on a timeline.
Can I move my music from forScore?
Bring your PDFs and audio files across and import them, a whole folder at a time; scores and tracks pair up by name. SoloStage doesn't read forScore's own files (such as 4SS setlists). forScore can share a setlist as a single PDF with your annotations made permanent, and that PDF imports like any other.
Does my library sync between Android and iPad?
Not yet. There's no account or cloud sync, so each tablet keeps its own library.
